SDBA Board of Directors Go to Washington

Thune

The SDBA Board of Directors attended the 2017 NAB State Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. February 27-March 1, 2017.  The annual event features an exhausting, instructive program where broadcasters nationwide hear from federal policymakers and industry leaders. SDBA Chairman Jay Huizenga, Bob Faehn, Carolyn Becker, Monte Loos, and Roger Currier attended.  The SD delegation met with Senator Thune and Representative Noem to discuss current issues that impact television and radio stations in South Dakota including the Performance Tax, and Advertising Tax deductibility. Loos and Huizenga stayed an extra day to attend meetings at the Federal Communications Commission.

Thank you to all our SDBA members that provided signatures on the letter opposing an advertising tax that was hand delivered to our congressional leaders.    The conference provides a great opportunity to visit with the SD congressional delegation about the challenges facing the broadcast industry, and to network with fellow broadcasters from across the country.  Thank you SDBA Board for your time and dedication!
