Several SDBA members attended the 2018 NAB State Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. February 27-28, 2018. The annual event features an exhausting, instructive program where broadcasters nationwide hear from federal policymakers and industry leaders. The SD Delegation included Board members: Roger Currier (Townsquare/ Results Radio), Monte Loos (KOTA Radio), and Carolyn Becker (Riverfront Broadcasting). Jim Berman (KSFY-TV) and Doyle Becker also attended representing SD. That group met with Senator Thune, Representative Noem, and Senator Rounds staff to discuss current issues including the Performance Tax, Retransmission Consent, Spectrum Incentive Auction Repacking, and TV White Spaces.
The Conference is a great opportunity to learn about federal issues, network with fellow broadcasters from across the country, and to update the SD congressional delegation about the challenges facing the broadcast industry back home.
