The SDBA Gary Owens Commercial Production Awards were first presented in 1999. Awards are presented in radio, television, and streaming (new in 2024) categories.
To qualify for the award, all spots must have aired on a SDBA member station at least 10 times in the past year. The spots must have been produced by a full-time employee of an SDBA member station for one of the station’s advertisers.
Entries must be 15, 30, or 60 seconds in length. There is a maximum of 3 entries per person and only 1 person must have been responsible for the ad – no collaborations. Also, no agency productions are allowed. The recipients are honored with a certificate and a cash prize ($200 for first place, $100 for second place) which are presented at the SDBA Annual Leadership Conference each year.
