Duhamel Radio sold to Riverfront Broadcasting, LLC

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV)  – After 82 years, the Duhamel legacy in local media is coming to an end. Bill Duhamel announced the sale of his radio stations Thursday.

Riverfront Broadcasting, LLC out of Yankton, SD bought all five of the Duhamel Broadcasting radio stations.

Duhamel says each of the family members has a piece of the radio business and with them now living in other places the majority of them want to sell the stations. Duhamel says localism is very important to him and he knows the new owners will keep it going.

Carolyn and Doyle Becker own Riverfront Broadcasting. Duhamel said he received multiple offers for his Rapid City radio stations, but chose the Becker’s because it’s a family-owned company.

“We picked them because they’re family owned, similar to us,” Duhamel said. “They’re young. You know, I’m tired. I’m getting too old and they’re young. I think they will do a good job.”

The radio stations will continue broadcasting from 518 Saint Joseph Street in downtown Rapid City.
