Good Morning KOTA Territory Anchor/Reporter


KOTA-TV, the #1 local news in western South Dakota, is seeking an experienced anchor and working broadcast journalist to join Good Morning KOTA Territory. You will anchor GMKT and produce and anchor our #1 newscast Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate will have a conversational on-air delivery, demonstrate strong leadership skill, and strong storytelling abilities to create engaging content both for TV and on all digital platforms including updates to social media. This position requires someone who can work closely with the rest of the team.

Depending on experience, the employee will coach less experienced reporters and producers. Expect to enterprise special reports, as well as live reports & field anchoring during breaking news and community events.

Our anchors are involved in the community and in the newsroom. The person we hire must have a positive attitude and be an ambassador for the station, for example, by making personal appearances at community events and/or volunteering for community service.

Pre-employment and random drug testing are conditions of employment. You must possess a valid driver`s license with a good driving record, and you must be able to carry 25-30 pounds of field news equipment.


Excellent news judgment, strong broadcast and online writing skills required. A degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field is required. Applicants should have a strong work ethic, able to work under deadline pressure. Familiarity with newsroom software like ENPS, digital field camera operation, and non-linear editing are required.

Online publishing experience is required. You must be familiar with social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter to promote stories and broadcast breaking news.
